Our History:
In fulfillment of a life-long dream shared by two very close friends, Dale Arrowood and Ed Carswell, Winged Ambassadors was founded with a mission to promote environmental conservation, specifically protection for the wildlife that we share the earth with, through a uniquely designed program of education. Programs featuring some of the very Birds of Prey responsibe for long ago capturing the fascinations of those two friends have now provided thousands of people in many different communities the rare and exhilarating opportunity of coming face-to-face with these breathtaking animals as they learn more about them and the complex, important roles they play in supporting the geographical ecosystems on which we all rely. During the early days of Winged Ambassadors, Dale and Ed developed an exciting and informative program that promoted a message of hope: hope that the world would one day see the remarkable Peregrine Falcon removed from the Endangered Species List due to a strong comeback in the numbers of them surviving in their natural habitats; hope that the day would come when people would be able to look out the windows of their cars and catch sight of our nation's majestic symbol of strength-the American Bald Eagle-soaring above them in the clouds; hope that someday the breathtaking Andian Condor species would no longer face the finality of extinction as it has done with certainty for far too long.
Over the years Winged Ambassadors has changed in a few ways; New birds have been added; Dialogue in the program has been altered; Trainers have come and a few have moved on to other adventures; But the original hopes and dreams that Dale and Ed shared during the early days of Winged Ambassadors have not changed at all. While we have been gratefully fortunate enough to celebrate as many of our original dreams, through the tireless efforts of conservationists everywhere, have become a reality, including that of the Peregrine Falcon officially being removed from the Endangered Species List due to a sufficient increase in the population, our work is not finished, and nor will it ever be. While we are relieved to see the great progress being made in many areas of wildlife conservation, we are, at the same time, overcome with concern for the new challenges facing the wildlife that we feel is such a special part of our lives and a necessary part of all men and women's survival in the environments we rely heavily upon for many needed natural resources.
And while we are much closer today to seeing all of our dreams come true than we were in the beginning, we realize that our conservation work will never be complete. As we continue to bring a program of education and a message of hope to various communities with the help of our special participating Birds of Prey, who are truly "ambassadors" speaking on behalf of all of the others like them that lack the opportunity to speak for themselves, with great hope for their future existence and their abilities to forever thrive,
We invite you to see the world through their eyes...
...and we hope that what you see will inspire
you to share in our passion.
